The Senior Research Associate will play a critical role in overseeing data collection and ensuring the quality and integrity of research data. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in data management, proficiency in statistical software such as Stata and Python, and a strong understanding of research methodologies. This position involves significant fieldwork and coordination with various teams to achieve research objectives. In this position, you will work closely with teams from BRAC Microfinance and leading Lithium and Lead battery manufacturers in Bangladesh, as well as the research teams from Georgetown University and Stanford University to assess the social and economic impact of the business model.

Key Responsibilities:


Data Collection Oversight:
  • Manage and supervise fieldwork activities to ensure adherence to research protocols and timelines.
  • Coordinate and oversee data collection teams, including enumerators, field supervisors, and data entry personnel.

  • Quality Monitoring:
  • Implement quality assurance measures to maintain the accuracy and integrity of collected data.
  • Conduct regular audits and data cleaning processes to ensure high data quality standards.

  • Training and Development:
  • Assist in the recruitment and maintenance of a proficient pool of enumerators.
  • Conduct training sessions for enumerators, field supervisors, and other field staff.
  • Develop training materials and resources to support field teams.

  • Coordination and Liaison::
  • Liaise with field teams, including supervisors, data entry teams, porters, and qualitative enumerators.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including Research Assistants (RAs), to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

  • Data Analysis:
  • Perform data analysis using Stata and Python, interpreting results and generating comprehensive reports.
  • Develop and maintain databases, ensuring data is securely stored and easily accessible for analysis.

  • Fieldwork Management:
  • Travel to field areas to observe and oversee data collection activities, ensuring compliance with research protocols.
  • Prepare field plans, movement plans, and other survey-related plans.

  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare survey progress reports and field challenge reports for each survey project.
  • Preserve hardcopy survey documents and audio files securely, maintaining the confidentiality of research materials.

  • Problem Solving and Response:
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for unforeseen challenges during fieldwork.
  • Address and resolve any issues that arise during data collection promptly and effectively.
  • Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a research setting, with significant experience in data collection and analysis.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Stata, R and Python for data analysis and management. SurveyCTO/ODK proficiency required.
  • Research Skills: Strong understanding of research methodologies, data quality control, and ethical standards in research.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and findings clearly.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with large-scale data collection projects.
  • Familiarity with additional statistical software and programming languages.
  • Prior experience in RCT or Impact evaluation.
  • Salary
    BDT 80,000- 120,000 per month, based on skills and experience.
