Dr. Mahfuza (Sheuli) Islam

Mahfuza Islam is a public health researcher with more than 15 years of experience in environmental health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), infectious disease, Climate Change impacts on health and One Health research. Prior to this, she served as Senior Research Manager at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), Bangladesh and Assistant Scientist at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), where she led multidisciplinary research projects, and had experience conducting randomized controlled trials, longitudinal studies and environmental health assessments. Her research interests include environmental epidemiology of infectious diseases, water and sanitation, and providing evidence-based solutions to public health problems in Bangladesh and other low- and middle-income countries. She has had grants from the NIH, Stanford University, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, published in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to academic publications and presented her research at national and international conferences.
