Laura Kwong is an Assistant Professor at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health's Division of Environmental Health Sciences. Given the substantial inequalities in health outcomes between high- and low-income nations, she focuses on environmental justice as it applies to environmental health in low- income countries. Dr. Kwong, a trained engineer, collaborates with communities to develop engineering treatments to solve public health challenges in low-income nations, particularly those connected to infectious diseases and air pollution. She collaborates with local research partners to perform randomized controlled trials that use qualitative and quantitative methodologies to evaluate these interventions. Dr. Kwong has participated in community-based research in Bangladesh, Uganda, Indonesia, China, Mongolia, and Mali.
