Samiha Islam

Research Assistant

Samiha Islam currently works as a Research Assistant at the ARCED Foundation. She graduated from the Department of Economics, University of Dhaka. Her Master’s Thesis explored the impact of domestic violence on mothers on their children’s education, while her Bachelor’s Monograph investigated financial inclusion’s effect on poverty in rural Bangladesh. Being the recipient of a fellowship from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, she had the opportunity to analyse the role of financial inclusion on rural women’s empowerment in Bangladesh. As a Research Assistant, she primarily works with Dr Amrita Kundu, Assistant Professor, Georgetown University, Dr Yewon Kim, Assistant Professor, Stanford University, Dr Moogdho Mahzab, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Stanford University, Dr Haruka Takayama, Assistant Professor, University at Albany, State University of New York, and Dr Kazuki Motohashi, Assistant Professor, Hitotsubashi University. Her work revolves around research instrument preparation, survey questionnaire formulation with SurveyCTO, data collection, rigorous data monitoring, preparation, and analysis using Stata and MS Excel.
