THE IMPACT OR SCHOOLING TYPE ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN DHAKA (PHASE II)

The study was conducted to gauge the relative impact of JAAGO Foundation schools as opposed to government schools and other NGO-run schools in Rayer Bazar and Korail slum areas of Dhaka to see the impact of different types of schools in children.

ARCED Foundation carried out a pretested semi-structured household survey for 1953 respondents which included both children and parents in the slum areas. Additionally, administrative data was gathered from 31 local schools. To understand the difference in performance in different types of schools, ARCED was also responsible for conducting an achievement test and an IQ test for students in those schools. Summary statistics were also provided regularly.
